And that's what Hong Kah Secondary School students did at the recent E-gnite! Learning Festival. The Secondary 3 students passed on their love and knowledge in electronics to more than 100 Primary School children by hosting and teaching them electronics through hands-on and minds-on activities, such as electronic games, mini-competitions and tinkering activities.
The big brothers and sisters at Hong Kah Secondary School taught about 100 students from Jurong, Yuhua, Keming and Lianhua Primary Schools how to fly a drone through an obstacle course, build an LED Terrarium from scratch, programme robots and design their very own mini music pianos using breadboards and electronic circuits.
Hong Kah Secondary School has embarked on our Applied Learning Programme, “Real-World Learning Through Electronics” where we are keen on exciting students and the community in the learning of electronics! The learning of electronics is especially important as Singapore moves towards becoming a Smart Nation. We organised E-gnite! Learning Festival in May 2016, where our Secondary Three students taught Primary School students electronics through play. It is a meaningful experience as our students extended their knowledge to the community to bring about a multiplier effect in electronics education.
